Encontros
a drawing collaboration by Marta Angelozzi and Nina Fraser

A root, once physically removed from its origin, still carries its history, form, and potential to regenerate or connect in new contexts. It speaks to the paradox of being both disconnected and still capable of forming new attachments.
Through a dynamic collaborative project that began in 2024, visual artists Marta Angelozzi and Nina Fraser present experimental drawings developed in response to roots and how they grow, spread and adapt. Mark-making becomes a trace of behaviour, a memory of an encounter that concretises the relations, dynamics and tensions between the artists and their subject matter. Investigating questions that arise from collaborative practice, there is an inherent discomfort that is transformed into an open ended dialogue. Rhizomatic expansion defined through the process creates space for new connections, networks, and collective engagement—shaped by each artist’s position within social and relational art practices.

ENCONTROS shows collaborative experimental drawings with reference to roots and rhizomatic methodologies. It is an expanded drawing process that is an ongoing practice, exploring notions of co-leadership and co-creation with its vision to be open to other artists in community and educational contexts.
The exhibition includes an audiovisual collaboration with André Tasso.
