» FLYGA FLADDRA  (2018)

Variable Dimension

FLYGA FLADDRA

Re-purposing unrecognisable objects discarded in my local area, allows me a brazen freedom to re-imagine their life as something grander. Elevating the status of the object to that of myth, endowing it with magic powers, became my intention for this sculpture and for my own circumstance. Reminded of Icarus, the kit is always there for purposeful flight, but the invariable danger remains -   be careful of the suns power. Appropriating the Swedish language, I explore the re-contextualization of foreign words, nodding toward our furniture buying habits and desire to flat-pack our lives.
