Mycelium is a transdisciplinary art project initiated and curated by Rapso, a non-profit association based in Bologna, Italy. Mycelium draws inspiration from the interconnection of the underground mushroom network, reflecting the power of collaboration and hybridization in the arts with an inclusive and intersectional approach. It aims at the creation of an “creative freedom ecosystem”,  representing a celebration of different perspectives, co-creation and the enriching effect of art in local communities. It includes the involvement of local citizens, local, national and international artists, and a team of cultural workers provided by Rapso, in collaboration with A Ruota Libera ONLUS, Mosaico APS, Textures APS and Polluce APS and sponsored by the Municipality of Roccamonfina (EC).

Mycelium residency period and performance - 01/08/23 - 06/08/23, Roccamonfina, Campania, Italy

The aim of the intervention was not predetermined, but was the result of the merging of different creative outputs through a transdisciplinary process. It manifested itself as an immersive walking performance, activating several spots within the town with short non-verbal performances, music, and integrated visual artworks, inspired by the stories of inhabitants of the village collected during the first phase of the project. Stories and symbols were weaved together organically, taking on new forms and reacting upon each other as if inside a laboratory. Utilizing only what we had brought with us introduced a further dimension of reciprocity between the group and also between the people of the village, who became both spectators and active participants during the public events. To be continued...
