menagerie
'Menagerie'; a masquerade of bird portraits in watercolour inks and collage, created with the subtle but provocative intent to evoke the relationship between society and animals. Using images of clothing as a symbolic material to cover the head and body of the bird, there is a discontinuity in the involvement between viewer and animal. The work deals with the repositioning of identity and the reassessment of the notions of 'fashion', display and allure.
